It certainly is the 'Time Of The Season' to celebrate the legendary album that is ‘Odessey and Oracle’. In 1968, The Zombies brought to us an album that helped expand the limits of what could be achieved with a long-playing record in terms of daring arrangements and sectional song structure. Wise Music continue to celebrate the ever expanding limits of this classic album; see our recent placement of ‘Time Of The Season’ for the Chelsea FC advert here!
The album was recorded in the summer of 1967, with sessions taking place at Abbey Road Studios and Olympic Studios in London. The album even received liberal doses of the Mellotron, left behind by John Lennon after the Beatles completed ‘Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club’.
What may seem a like a short lived band, the summer of love remains prominent in the psychedelic-pop treasure of this classic album. The very existence of the Zombies in 2012 may seem baffling, but check out the Tiny Desk Concert featuring two founding members of The Zombies: Rod Argent on keys, and Colin Blunstone on vocals.
