Radio LBB: SIREN's Swinging SXSW Playlist

Festival favourites from Producer/Music Supervisor Sian Rogers

Radio LBB: SIREN's Swinging SXSW Playlist

With SXSW rapidly approaching I have looked back on some of my favourites from the 2016 festival and peered into the future to see what gems are going to be presented in 2017.

Some particular favourites include:

Fantastic Negrito: 2016 was his comeback following the loss of his record deal and a car crash that left him in a coma. And what a comeback it was, a SXSW show living up to his fantastic name, followed by the release of his debut EP last summer. He’s started the new year with a Grammy win, so it’s safe to say things are looking up.

Gallant: His vocals were something to behold live and he had everyone in the audience swooning. SXSW 2016 was a strong year for R&B.

Sofi Tukker: Her 2016 debut was one of the unexpected hits of the festival. She is making a return in 2017 following a Grammy nomination.

Blaenavon: They were great in 2016 at their festival debut. A great frontman and so much raw potential. They’re back at SXSW this year and I for one can’t wait to hear how they’ve progressed.

Sigrid: She’s not on the official SXSW list for 2017 but she is, if the rumours are true, going to be playing the StubHub annual showcase. Go for the anthemic piece of pop that is ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’.

Jain: A french singer-songwriter with strong African influences. I challenge you not to dance. With some exciting projects in the offing, watch this space!

Lincoln Durham: An Austin local (and one-man band) who plays “Southern-Gothic Psycho-Blues Revival-Punk”. Who’s with me?!
