Radio LBB: Retrain You Say?

They tell us we should retrain. Find a new skill. A ‘viable’ skill. Become more qualified, or perhaps even just ‘qualified’.

And this comes after a series of cuts to music education and the arts in the curriculum.

Fortunately, music itself has been an incredible tool of resistance over time.

So instead of being forced to justify the economic, cultural, educational and commercial worth of music and the arts, my playlist this week is a celebration of the power of music to inspire and captivate.

Music, as with many other arts, is not an indulgent skill or talent, as they might have others believe. Through music we have: progress, inspiration, expression, understanding, social change, political demonstration, cultural movements and more.

The tracks that I have chosen reflect my personal collection of music that inspires and captivates me.

Beyond the specific tracks, this playlist embodies an enduring celebration of music and the artists, performers, writers, composers, producers, managers, execs, lawyers, creatives and everyone in between and associated, who underpin the powerhouse of Music.
