Wen Brian Eno first talked about ambient in 1978 he described it as music 'designed to induce calm and space to think' and a sound that 'must be able to accommodate many levels of listening attention without forcing one in particular.'
Since then, ambient music has continued to evolve, crossing continents and feeding into numerous genres but the one thing it’s been consistently successful at is providing a level of relaxation and escapism.
We’ve compiled a selection of
some of our favourite ambient cuts to try and help transport the listener; so whether you need something peaceful to listen to while working from home or just need to escape the craziness of the current situation for an hour or two, hopefully this will help take your mind to where it needs to be.
