Radio LBB: Best of Wise Music 2023

It’s safe to say 2023 was an incredible year at Wise Music! Awards were at the forefront, with our composers winning and receiving some of the highest honours around. Hauschka won an Oscar for his score of war epic ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ while Rachel Portman won an Emmy award for the score of the documentary ‘Julia’. Speaking of the Emmys, the German historical drama ‘The Empress’ won International Emmy Award for best drama series. To culminate the award winning, Shigeru Umebayashi received the lifetime achievement award at Rome Film Festival, a richly deserved accomplishment! As well as awards, it was the year of acquisitions at Wise Music, with the rich catalogue of Editions Peters being acquired, featuring the iconic ‘Also Sprach Zarathusra’. There were also three key new signings in the form of legendary electronic DJ/Producer Ron Trent, spellbinding sitarist/composer Anoushka Shankar and the innovative composer/sound artist Ellen Reid. Finally, we had several of our composers work on music for the Royal Coronation including Judith Weir, Paul Mealor, Tarik O’Regan and Debbie Wiseman. After an incredible 2023, we’re so excited for what 2024 has to offer!
