YOUTH MODE's Jack Derbyshire celebrates 20 years since The Roots' 'Things Fall Apart' was released
With it being 20 years since the release of The Roots' 'Things Fall Apart' album, there's no better time than the present to shine a light on The Soulquarians movement.
In 1996, D'Angelo and Questlove came together at Jimi Hendrix's Electric Lady Studios in New York City and changed the landscape of soul music. Together, along with several other musicians, including Common, Erykah Badu, Q-Tip, Raphael Saadiq, James Poyser, J. Dilla, Bilal, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli, they turned the historic studio into a hotbed for innovation and creativity, thus birthed The Soulquarians.
The 20 song playlist includes works produced before, during, and after The Soulquarians era, including production credits for non-Soulquarians members.
