Radio LBB: A Love Song for Every Occasion

The team at Big Sync Music prepares you for Valentine's Day with some bitter-sweet tunes

Radio LBB: A Love Song for Every Occasion

People always say ‘when you meet the one you’ll just know’ and ‘it really shouldn’t be that complicated’.

But it is, isn’t it?  There’s a love song for every occasion and there are a lot of occasions.

We’re not love experts, but we do know a thing or two about music. So we wanted to share some love songs and some anti-love songs with you, before Valentine’s Day, to get you in the mood (or to help you out of it).

As sommeliers of music for your mood and situation, Big Sync’s global team of music supervisors have dug deep and served up two play lists - one bitter and one sweet.  There were many more songs we’d like to have included but we’ve whittled it down to ten per list which was not easy.  We hope you can connect to a few of these, whether it’s the music that takes you to another place and time, or the lyrics - obscure or simple - that move you.

With all our love,

The team at Big Sync Music

For Unbreakable Love

Lovesong, The Cure

For the woman that keeps you grounded and loves you, warts and all

Woman, John Lennon

When meeting someone changes everything in your life

First Day Of My Life, Bright Eyes

When you’re in need of some spiritual love

A Love Supreme, Alice Coltrane

‘Cause we’re lovers, and that is a fact

Heroes, David Bowie

When you’re totally together and part of each other.  Truly optimistic.

Only Love, Ben Howard

When you love everything about them

I Like The Way You Walk, The Donkeys

You want your own way but you want to please her too.  This could be tricky

Stupid things, Robin Thicke

Utterly chilled out love - best served lying down (or smoking).

La ritournelle, Sebastian Tellier

Colour Blind, Counting Crows

The song that says ‘I’m not overemotional, I’m an artist’

The Pugilist, Keaton Henson

When you don't love someone… but you always will

Poison and Wine, The Civil Wars

When you want to let them know that they should love you now - because we’re going to die soon.  Creepy.

We Might Be Dead By Tomorrow, Soko

They’ve betrayed your trust and you can’t stand to be close to them anymore.

Leave, Glen Hansard

I Screwed up, AGAIN. The perfect song for self loathing.

The Professor & La Fille Danse, Damien Rice

Unrequited Love.  Say no more.

I Can’t Make You Love Me, Bonnie Raitt

When you didn’t realise what you had until it was gone.  Sometimes it’s the simplest lyrics that have the most effect.  ‘…the truth is I miss you’.

Warning Sign, Cold play

Because she married the wrong guy

Cath, Death Cab for Cutie

When you don’t want love.  Not from her anyway.

I Don’t Want Love, The Antlers

When you want to say ‘Don’t go!’

The Fall, Rhye
