Ever taken a selfie with a bird on your shoulder? SuperHeroes New York and ASUS reinvent augmented reality in mobile marketing by introducing ‘Hello Edward’. A typically boring product demo is turned into a hilarious interactive experience with a bird with arms, named Edward. The feathery spokesperson explains his vision on the new ASUS Transformer Book T100HA, as he dances, juggles, flies his jetpack, and of course takes selfies.
Dubbed the world’s first 'interactive selfie cam AR experience', the app, which runs on Android and Windows, doesn’t require users to print off an AR marker like in earlier days. Instead it uses facial recognition and shoulder tracking to position Edward and his antics right on their shoulder. Rogier Vijverberg, ECD of SuperHeroes NYC, says: “We wanted to provide a new experience in mobile marketing and loved good old AR. Using your face as the AR marker for it just made sense. Everyone has a face, and a smartphone with selfie cam.’
The entertaining experience serves as a creative product demo for the new 2-in-1 ASUS Transformer Book T100HA, and delightfully highlights key features like the device’s 12 hours of battery, USB type C port, and 4 metallic color options.
Hello Edward marks a follow up to the hugely successful 2014 holiday campaign for the ASUS Transformer book T100, which introduced Edward as a cheeky productivity-pro in the film series 'Modern Birds’. The films reached over 20 million views and helped the Transformer Book T100 earn a great market share, becoming the best performing Asus campaign ever. The campaign and the new app have been developed by the agency SuperHeroes New York.
