First director to be signed by Davud Karbassioun since joining the studio
Pulse Films is excited to announce the signing of director Benito to its UK talent roster.

Benito Montorio began his career as a documentary filmmaker, quickly garnering a reputation for embedding himself within some of the most dangerous organisations in the world. Commissioned by the BBC, Benito filmed undercover with gangs in Ibiza (“Drug Land”), followed kidnappers in Brazil (“Ransom City”),  spent six months in a Bolivian Prison (“12 Year Old Cocaine Smuggler”) and covered the world’s most dangerous football fans for “Hooligan”, which earned him a Grierson ‘Best Documentary Series’ award nomination.

As a commercials director, Benito has established himself as a master of his craft, having made standout work for VW, Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Robinsons & John Lewis. His commercial work has earned a plethora of industry awards including 10 British Arrows, 3 Cannes Lions, multiple Craft Awards and a D&AD for Best Direction for his Cesar spot.

His uncompromising approach to quality storytelling in the branded space and his unique experience as an unscripted filmmaker makes him an exciting addition to the Pulse Films universe.

Davud Karbassioun, Global President, Commercials & Branded: “I’ve worked closely with Benito on a number of projects over the years during my time at BBH.  He has a unique cinematic quality to his work and is so obsessive about the detail.  He has the rare ability to capture authentic and emotive performances with beautiful photography.  I’m so proud to announce him as my first signing to Pulse Films and continue to build on his career as a standout filmmaker.”

Benito added: “Pulse are unique in the way they approach content; the perfect place to not only continue making commercials but also develop other forms of content including long form. We both started in documentary and it feels like we share a similar film-making DNA. With Davud joining, it's the perfect move. We met on my first commercial (Robinsons) and worked on some great projects since. He is a talent.  I am sure we are going to make some powerful films together.”
