Publicis Dublin and Virgin Media took home a coveted Grand Prix at the inaugural Irish Audio Awards. The awards, established by Radiocentre Ireland to promote the highest standard of Irish audio creativity, took place on the 30th March in Dublin, immersing attendees within a unique audio experience at the historic Smock Alley theatre.
The Grand Prix, along with two other gold awards for casting and consumer, was presented for the agency’s work for Virgin Media’s 1 Gig Speed campaign, 'Pick Up The Pace'. The Grand Prix is the most sought-after title of the awards, handpicked by the grand jury out of entries made from the other categories.
'Pick Up The Pace', was a collaborative audio project which saw Publicis Dublin work alongside Virgin Media, partnering with Ireland’s fastest rapper, JYellowL to promote Ireland’s fastest broadband network. The track celebrates the performance of speed through carefully crafted rap verses.
Peter Dobbyn, creative director at Publicis Dublin said of the win, “We’re absolutely delighted with the win. 'Pick up the Pace' was all about collaboration. It was JyellowL and Brian Cox on the airwaves, and then a huge team of people working together behind the scenes, pushing to make this idea the best it could be. A big thanks to the team in Virgin Media, Catapult, Folding Waves, Will Farrell, all of the crew in Publicis Dublin, Chris Kabs and of course JyellowL.”
In a wildly successful night, the agency was also shortlisted for a number of other awards for their work with Virgin Media, Iarnród Éireann, Standard Life and Island’s Edge.
