Laura Clark interviews Drum’s financial controller about his experiences both before and after six months’ paternity leave

Pro Mum Podcast Talks Paternity with Charles Powell-Chandler
Getting women into top roles in the creative industry is a big conversation right now. We can all say that having children is not the sole reason why women aren’t making it to the top as often as men. But it does play a big part.

Laura Clark, an advertising creative, runs a podcast called ‘Pro Mum’ where she speaks to successful mums in the creative industries. The aim is to inspire women and show them that it is possible to have a successful career as well as a home life.

In series one she’s spoken to Rosie Arnold, Ana Balarin, Rachel Gott, Natasha Taylor, Emer Stamp, Katerina Nissan, Caroline Pay and Amy Ewbank.

In the latest two Pro Mum episodes, Laura speaks to her first male guest - Charles Powell-Chandler, financial controller at the London-based agency Drum.

The first conversation takes place just before he goes on paternity. Laura asks him how he's feeling, what he's looking forward to and what he's nervous about. She also asks about the social pressures and prejudices around paternity leave.

The second Pro Mum podcast with Charles Powell-Chandler takes place after his six months of leave. They chat about how it was, what happened as expected and what came as a surprise.

You can listen to both on Apple Podcasts or at promum.net
