PRETTYBIRD UK Co-Founder Juliette Larthe Accepts Outstanding Achievement Award at UKMVA

During a ceremony at London’s iconic music venue the Roundhouse on Thursday 4th November, Juliette Larthe, executive producer and co-founder of PRETTYBIRD UK, was presented with the UKMVA Outstanding Achievement Award with a powerful and poignant speech given by long-time friend Writer, Artist Primal Scream's, Bobby Gillespie. 

Juliette was presented with the prestigious award in recognition of a 30 year career during which she has made a prolific contribution to music videos. Working over this time with over 500 artists including; Pam Hogg, Supergrass, Spiritualized, Robyn, The Horrors, Morcheeba, Rihanna, Kanye West, FKA Twigs, Two Door Cinema Club, M.I.A, I See MONSTAS, Charli XCX, Björk, Coldplay, London Grammar, Hercules & Love Affair feat. Faris Badwan, Arca, Jesse Ware, Rita Ora, Bananrama, Paul Weller, Bibi Zhou, Little Simz, 1975, Rudimental, Marianne Faithful, Primal Scream, Uckers, Pussycat Dolls, Piero Pirupa, SG Lewis, Amun, Kylie Minogue, Mae Muller, MEDUZA, sam tompkins, Paloma Faith, Birdy, Earth to Dora, Remember We Were Lovers, The Hives, Super Furry Animals, Catatonia, Radiohead, Adam F, Manneskin, U2, and many more… 

PRETTYBIRD UK producer Benji Landman put together a video montage with highlights from Juliette’s career, and messages from friends and collaborators opening with Carrie Sutton, EP and Commissioner, and going on to include Actress/ director/writer Samantha Morton; Mother/ Model/  Activist, Cultural Innovator and Global Ambassador of The Queens Commonwealth Trust, Naomi Campbell; artists Gilbert & George; PRETTYBIRD CEO & Co-Founder Kerstin Emhoff & Co-Founder Paul Hunter; and Artist Nick Knight. The video also featured contributions from Bobby Gillespie, Dr. Pam Hogg Icon and Artist, Director and former commissioner Trudy Bellinger, Juliette's daughter and medical student Poppy Spaceman Pierce, and images of Hank Jackson her son, as well as Directors Margot Bowman, Salomon Ligthelm, Diane Martell and Eric Wareheim, VP of Sony Music Mike O’Keefe, EP Beth Montague, Director Jim Canty, Commissioner John Hassay, Cinematographer Rina Yang, Super Furry Animals Artist and Singer Gruff Rhys, and EP Phil Tidy.

PRETTYBIRD came out in full force for the Awards show, which also saw wins for Best Editing in a Video award for Little Simz’s ‘Introvert’, Edited by Elise Butt at Trim Editing and directed by Salomon Lighthelm.

The 14th annual running of the UKMVAs saw the awards ceremony return to The Roundhouse for the first time in two years. With Covid protocols in place for an audience of over 800 music video-making professionals, the show was hosted for the first time by comedian Maisie Adam. Forty awards were handed out to directors, producers and other creatives who work behind the camera to create the music videos that millions enjoy every day on YouTube and elsewhere. 

The resounding take out was that the Best Director Award deviated from its 30-year long run of male directors winning, to award the accolade to Director Tanu Muimo. It was also a delight to see Joy Crookes’s video for 'Feet Don’t Fail Me Now', which celebrates Indian culture in London, win two craft awards on the night, for Best Wardrobe Styling and the UKMVAs’ inaugural Best Hair & Makeup award won by long time collaborators with PRETTYBIRD Matthew Joseph, Ed Marler, Natalie Roar for wardrobe, and Mata Marielle and Isaac Poleon on make up and Hair. With a win for Celeste too it was a great night for our community.
