Post Production Studio The Underground Launches in New York

Boutique post production studio The Underground has launched in New York, led by Creative Director Nic Seresin and Executive Producer Yvonne Apollonio. The Underground specialises in 2D and 3D VFX, colour grading, on-set supervision, editorial and design for commercials and branded content. The Underground will embrace a lean and adaptive business model, working with a curated lineup of freelance talent to scale their team for projects of all scopes and sizes. The Underground’s boutique approach allows them to keep artistry front-of-mind and maintain consistently superior creative aesthetics. Upcoming work out of The Underground includes work for Lifetime and American Express.

Yvonne noted: “Nic is a very talented artist who has worked with some of the best directors in the world at the most prominent VFX houses in Europe and the U.S. I admire his ability and technique, and I also enjoy his easy going nature and great sense of humour. P2P is a leader in the world of print and retouching, and having a business with so many years of experience and such a flawless reputation behind us makes me confident that we can make Underground a great success.”

Nic added: “It’s exciting to be a part of a boutique shop that allows me to have creative collaboration across many fields, from edit to VFX, finishing and everything in between. We are small and nimble with big ambitions to do truly amazing work across all aspects of VFX.”

Creative Director Nic Seresin will oversee the creative vision for The Underground and serve as the lead artist, working directly with clients to bring their visions to life and maintain consistent artistry across all projects. Nic has spent 20 years crafting dynamic visuals in advertising, film, music video and digital work. Originally from the UK, his family is steeped in the film and advertising world, luring him in at an early age. Nic has worked at some of the industry’s top shops in both London and New York, including The Mill, MPC, Method Studios, Quietman and Smoke & Mirrors. His work has earned numerous industry accolades, such as Cannes Lions, BTAA and D&AD Awards. As a VFX Supervisor and Flame Artist, Nic has collaborated with some of the industry’s top commercial directors, including Spike Lee, Tim Burton, Michel Gondry, Dougal Wilson, Rupert Sanders, Tony Kaye, Jonathan Glazer and Ulf Johansson, among numerous others.

Yvonne Apollonio brings over a decade of experience as a producer in the commercial production space to her role as Executive Producer at The Underground. Her dual backgrounds as a VFX artist and producer allow her to expertly traverse creative and client perspectives. Yvonne started her career as a visual effects artist in Los Angeles. She continued to work freelance while she landed her first producing gig at The Famous Group. She made the move to NYC in 2014 and has since worked as a producer and sales rep for a number of production and post production shops, including Colorbox Productions, Basic Nature and Homestead Films, building creative teams, producing projects across live action and animation, and leading new business development.

The Underground was launched by parent company P2P, a global leading retouching company with over 22 years of experience, specialising in top beauty brands, including L’Oreal Paris, Revlon, and Maybelline. The Underground will maintain the same level of top-tier compelling visuals on the motion side under the P2P Group banner.

The Underground recently signed with Minerva, made up of Mary Knox and Shauna Seresin, for East Coast sales representation.
