Platige Image Unveils the Making of Latest Zubr Beer Spot

Platige Image takes viewers behind the scenes of their latest Zubr beer commercial, titled 'Panic Bison' ("Żubr Popłoch”) that premiered in early April. Explore the intricate process behind the creation of this beloved series, produced for Kompania Piwowarska, as Platige Image unveils a captivating short film that showcases the remarkable post-production journey.

For two decades now, Platige Image has been the creative force behind the visually stunning graphic animations for "Żubr," Poland's undisputedly popular commercial series. However, the latest spring edition posed an unprecedented challenge, pushing the boundaries of their expertise. Every single animal fleeing from the pens had to be meticulously crafted through cutting-edge computer-generated techniques.

"It's surprising how much effort goes into bringing a dozen creatures to life. The action dynamics presented an additional challenge. As a result, it took six months of intensive work to complete the 30-second spot. The final material amounted to tens of terabytes, highlighting the sheer scale of the project," says Katarzyna Kopczyńska, producer of the spot.

"One of the distinctive aspects of this project was the challenge of featuring animals of vastly different sizes within a single frame, including a tiny fly, a squirrel, a pig, and the prominent bison. To ensure a believable portrayal of this diverse group, careful preparation was required from the very framing stage. Fortunately, the extensive collaboration between Platige Image, Kompania Piwowarska, and PZL Agency played a crucial role, resulting in an exceptionally smooth process," says Piotr Oltarzewski, VFX supervisor.

PZL agency conceptualized the captivating 'Zubr Popłoch' spot, with Moon Films handling production and Juice.Sound creating the immersive sound experience. Platige Image studio expertly executed the post-production, infusing the spot with their remarkable artistic touch.

"This unique project required the animators to depict the animals' behavior and interactions in short scenes, ensuring clarity for the viewers. Balancing natural movements, appropriate pacing, and maintaining visual fluidity posed a challenge. Yet, the animators' exceptional skill and artistry led to a brilliant outcome," says Iwo Zaniewski, director and artistic director of the PZL agency. 

"The project posed its challenges, demanding numerous animation rehearsals and meticulous attention to individual reactions and interactions. However, the unwavering dedication of the team, combined with the extensive collaboration history between Platige and PZL, resulted in the creation of a captivating film that excelled in both artistic expression and animation," adds Dominik Turek, associate creative director at PZL.
