GAA is Irish football (the one with lots of handballs and kicking the ball over the cross bar!) and AIB’s new sponsorship deal gave Piranha Bar the chance (through Rothco, Dublin) to create a buzz about its much-loved stars with fun, fresh spots that stand out from the millions of TV promos for GAA—they’re charming, celebratory and infectiously feel-good!
The two multimedia pieces are ‘This is the Life’ films, featuring two star players, James O’ Donoghue and Paul Flynn. The spots made the most of every one of those 30 seconds, packing in heaps of fun stuff with childhood photographs, archives and live-action shots, all complemented by quirky 2D animations and motion graphics.
The
reception to the campaign by the fans has been so positive—claiming the number
one top Twitter trend in Ireland the day it aired.
Piranha Bar commented ‘By keeping the production emphasis on research,
creative thinking and motion graphics, we were able to create a campaign that
made a huge splash. It was
one of those rare occasions when limited resources drove the creative
expression down a really positive route.’
