Brooklyn-based Picture Farm has launched their latest gallery exhibit through their Picture Farm Gallery space, presenting 'FIRING: Women Photograph,' celebrating strong female perspectives on surf culture. The photo and video exhibition features the work of female photographers and filmmakers who’ve spent part or all of their artistically formative years in the New York area who document surfing. Embracing and championing the female voice, the exhibit presents distinct styles and perspectives on coastal culture.
The show, conceived and curated by photographer Andreea Waters and co-curated by Picture Farm’s Toddy Stewart, features the work of Julia Briere, Alexandra Uzik, Liz Magee, Elisa Bates, Katrina Del Mar, Andreea Waters, Nina Choi, Jianca Lazarus and Carla Phillips.
Picture Farm held an opening reception on Friday, January 5th at their Williamsburg Gallery space that included multiple images from each photographer and a video presentation space showcasing the work of the filmmakers.
Picture Farm Gallery is an art space hosting a regular offering of multi-week shows, pop up exhibitions, craft workshops and cultural events.
Operated out of Picture Farm Production, a creative production and post production company, the goal of the gallery is to offer up a financially viable exhibition space for their talented peers and passions and causes they support.
