JWT Worldwide today announced that Peter Sherman, formerly Executive Vice President, Managing Director, BBDO Europe, has been named CEO of JWT New York.
In this new role, Sherman will have responsibility for JWT’s flagship New York office, driving the overall strategic direction and growth, while building on JWT New York’s creative reputation. He also will be charged with leading business development efforts, managing client relationships and accelerating the agency’s nontraditional offerings.
Sherman, 49, will report to Bob Jeffrey, Chairman and CEO, JWT Worldwide, and work closely with the agency’s New York and North American leadership teams.
“Peter has the right blend of business acumen, client relationship management expertise, and global and domestic experience, coupled with an obsession for great work,” said Jeffrey. “His new business track record and a proven ability to drive growth make him the right person to lead our New York office.”
David Eastman, CEO, JWT North America will continue to lead the North American region outside of New York, which includes JWT offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and Canada, as well as Digitaria, Lunchbox, JWT Action, JWT Inside, Casa and SCPF. Eastman will be charged with accelerating growth in the region, which in the past five years has seen impressive expansion across its nontraditional offerings, including the award-winning Digitaria, shopper-marketing specialist JWT Action and Lunchbox.
Since 2010, Sherman has managed 35 BBDO offices in 18 countries across the European region, excluding those in England, France and Germany. During his tenure, those offices increased year-on-year local growth, won multiple pan-European pitches, and were named as the most creative network in Europe for the first time in 2012.
Prior to BBDO Europe, Sherman was based in San Francisco, serving as Managing Director at BBDO SF. Under his leadership, the office’s revenue doubled and it became the fastest-growing office in North America.
Before his time in San Francisco, Sherman was at BBDO NY for eight years, McCann in New York, and FCB and Cramer-Krasselt in Chicago, working across the three major markets in the U.S.—the West Coast, Chicago and New York.
“There's a tremendous collection of talent in the JWT office; it will be a privilege to lead this team," said Sherman.
