Spindle has introduced filmmaker, photographer and installation artist Patrick Fileti to the roster for representation in the UK and Netherlands.
With a reputation built on powerful, socially conscious filmmaking, Patrick's heartfelt storytelling is driven by humanity, honesty and a belief that images speak to the soul of the viewer.
His ambition to create purposeful and emotionally charged work is exemplified in his recent film ‘Inferno’. Working with Cinematographer Galo Olivares (Roma), Fileti’s signature thought-provoking imagery and intimate character performances sing on the screen. Winning at Palm Springs International Shortfest, the film went on to pick up the Academy-accredited Award for Best Documentary.
"I tell stories that are anchored in real feelings. The lighting and camerawork capture the most beautiful version of real places. These are found moments set within spaces that breathe with realism, a heightened reality”
Born in Italy and with four languages under his belt, numerous countries lived in and a full set of stamps in his passport, Patrick has a natural ability to deeply connect with people and culture. This level of understanding generates performances with actors and real people that are key to the success of his work.
"I’m drawn to social stories that confront preconceived ideas of people and communities; opening up a dialogue about diverse traditions and subcultures"
As well as filmmaking and photography, Patrick's creative success also extends artistically, with work exhibited at the Venice International Biennale. His co-founded art collective, Archrival, creates unique installation works for exhibitions, and is an outlet he credits to his father’s influence as a theatre director.
Patrick’s versatility and international popularity as a director have seen him create Cannes, Clio, One Show, Effie, ACS, and Spike winning commercials for brands, and we are very excited to see his talent blossom in the UK.
Patrick Fileti: “I’m excited to work with the fun and talented team at Spindle. Their passion for filmmaking and multi-disciplinary art forms mirrors mine and their innovative approach to our business is refreshing.”
Spindle Partner Miles Nathan: Making commercials is really hard. It’s hard to get the tone right, it’s hard to get casting right, it’s hard to make people care. So, when you get to meet and engage with a director whose films make you feel something honest, believable and beautiful, you have no choice but to grab that person tight with both hands. Patrick is an emotional storyteller and his work is steeped in humanity. At Spindle we try and wear our humanity on our sleeve like a badge of honour. We could not be more thrilled to welcome him on to our team.
Executive producer Leonie Ellis: Patrick’s multi-disciplinary talents are an exciting prospect for us at Spindle. His incredibly soulful and purposeful work speaks with meaning in a way that is much needed now. I can’t wait to connect his vision to future opportunities.view more - Hires, Wins & BusinessSpindle, Tue, 12 May 2020 16:28:05 GMT
