Sky1 have recently rebranded, unveiling brand new TV idents crafted by Polynoid, the German animation collective represented by Passion Pictures in the UK. The idents bring Sky’s ‘ONE’ to life through playful movement and vibrant bursts of colour, against a sleek, minimal background.

Polynoid’s job was to identify the ONE’s character and physical nuances through the personas it adopts – a kung fu fighter and a tornado, amongst others. While keeping to Sky’s own personality and tone, the project also allowed them to play around with visual styles, movements and shapes.

When asked how the process of creating idents is different to that of traditional commercial, Fabian from Polynoid answered that it eliminates "the worry about product features. It’s much more about telling little stories that pick up on the channel’s characteristics. This can be a big challenge, but it’s definitely lots of fun."
