Partizan has announced the signing of animation director Katy Wang. She will be represented globally.
Katy recently graduated from the Illustration and Animation degree course at Kingston University. She is a natural storyteller and her films have a human feel, with subtle but poignant narratives, combined with her distinct elemental and textural visual style, all of which contribute to taking the viewer on a rich storytelling journey.
Her graduation short film ‘Contact’ is an immersive interplanetary tale, with subtle themes of loneliness and intrigue. The eight-minute long film tells the story of a lonely astronaut stranded on a distant planet, who sends out a signal in search of human contact.
“"I’m thrilled to have signed here at Partizan, especially since EP Duncan Gaman approached me only two-weeks after graduating,” Katy says. “I’m really looking to forward to making some exciting work together!"
Katy had already won awards internationally prior to graduating. Her previous work includes the award-winning ‘Mind the Gap’ film, which she made in her first year of study at university. It’s a beautifully timed textural and visual experiment, portraying in an abstracted way the sights, sounds, and movement of the London Underground, inspired by its iconic seat patterns. She has also just been awarded the It's Nice That ‘Graduate of the Year 2017’.
