Christian McKenzie and Patrick Chen, formerly part of the acclaimed directing triumvirate Lynn Fox, have signed with
Park Pictures NY, LA and London for representation.
As Lynn Fox, they, along with fellow UCL architecture student Bastian Glassner, started off as CG artists and soon progressed to making music videos, harnessing a powerful mixture of live action and CG visuals.
They exploded onto the scene with their debut work ‘Hayling’ for FC Kahuna, and cleaned up in the Warp records and Creative Review competition in 2002 with their piece for Chris Clark’s ‘Gob Coitus’. They went on to win Best New Director at the 2003 CADs, and began their long-standing relationship with Bjork, creating music videos for her, visuals for her world tour, which won a pair of Silvers at D&AD and providing visual accompaniment to her performance at the Olympic games opening ceremony. Since then they have worked with other major artists such as Incubus, Maximo Park and The Aliens.
They have since expanded their repertoire to making outstanding commercials work, from the visually powerful and award winning 'Thanks, Airbag' for Mercedes, to their popular comedy adverts for Barclays featuring Stephen Merchant. Their commercial, ‘Crashes’ for Axe, won a Titanium award at Cannes and they have worked with esteemed brands such Audi, Boots, Timberland, Peugeot, Miller and Guinness.
The pair’s decision to part company with Glassner was based on their desire to follow a new creative and evolutionary route: "We are very proud of the work we have made as Lynn Fox but came to a creative crossroads. In our hearts we felt that there was a new path, a rutted, mosquito infested and curiously interesting trail- one that would surprise us and challenge us along the way. We believe that our taste for arresting visuals and mischievous humour can be married to richer characters and stronger storytelling. And that's what we are looking for."
Stephen Brierley, Partner & EP at the London office said, regarding the signing: “We are delighted that Christian & Patrick have joined the Park Pictures roster. Our ethos has always been to sign directors that have a unique and engaging style and quality to their work, they certainly fulfill this criteria. Their work is beautifully crafted and has a unique vision. We look forward to helping them evolve creatively in this new chapter of their careers.
Christian and Patrick added: "We are absolutely thrilled to be joining Park Pictures. Their output is so strong creatively, filmic and cultured. Each director on the roster has a unique voice. They are making some of the most creative work in the world. We couldn't be happier."
