J.B. Braud is a director and writer quickly setting up a voice of his own. Throughout his strong sense of aesthetics at the edge of surrealism, his search for unique characters and original take on human emotions, is already a signature.
J.B. recently made his debut in advertising for Apple with the French campaign ‘LE PEINTRE’ for iPhone 12 Pro a 1mn short film making the most of the device’s camera through a thrilling and carefully crafted story.
No wonder Apple picked J.B. Braud for this campaign. In 2019, his short film ‘IN THE STILL NIGHT’ shot in Tokyo and starring comedy actor Eric Wareheim was already giving a view of J.B.’s personal voice and storytelling. Broadcasted on Canal+, it was acclaimed in many international festivals.
2021 is a busy year for J.B. After his film for iPhone 12 Pro, he will release his new short "THE SOUND OF WATER” soon, also shot in Japan, and exploring the tragic vanishing of a woman in Koyasan.
Since 2018, he has been writing and directing two seasons of a successful documentary series broadcasted in Japan on Tsutaya TV and Pen Media about artists and icons of popular culture working between Paris and Tokyo. In addition to his work as a director, J.B. Braud is editorial director for Pen, the most influential Tokyo-based lifestyle and cultural magazine / media brand in Japan.
