‘Are suits nothing more than bag carriers?’ debate

The Account Management Group (AMG), powered by The Communications Council, has confirmed a six strong panel to lead the NSW launch event on Monday 3rd June in a debate questioning the new identity of account managers.

Mediated by Network 10’s Russel Howcroft, the panel will reflect a diverse range of disciplines, with voices representing account management, strategy and planning, creative, media, technology and production, and the client.

Panellists include:

Chantal Walker, Marketing Director, Foxtel - Client representative
Nitsa Lotus, General Manager, TBWA - Account Management
Ian Perrin, CEO, ZenithOptimedia – Media
Steve Back, Chief Creative Officer, Ogilvy Australia – Creative
Sudeep Gohil, CEO, Droga5 – Strategy & Planning
Bryan Jones, Technology Director, R/GA – Production & Technology

With the subject striking a nerve among industry professionals, 150 tickets sold out within three days of initial release. The event has now relocated to The Bavarian Beer Café on York Street, Sydney, to accommodate a further 150 attendees.

AMG NSW Chairman, Naren Sanghrajka, said: “We’re thrilled to see such a positive response. This launch initiative and the subject matter of this particular debate – whether to label suits ad men or bag men – have both clearly resonated with those working in our industry. We’re tackling the “elephant in the room” head on, and I look forward to hearing what this impressive and diverse mix of leaders has to say.” He continues: “It is our goal to provide a voice for Account Managers in NSW, to help define the profession’s “new” identity and ensure suits a place on the map”.

Tickets to the launch have now sold out, though annual membership packages are available for $120, offering members a range of benefits including access to four AMG events in 2013.  For further details on AMG benefits, visit here. Interested participants, including anyone who would like to engage with the group as a consultant or event speaker, may also contact Gawen Rudder on 02 8297 3807.
