ORGANIC is the film and television PR arm of Target Group, Havas Media Group’s specialist culture, gaming, film and television offering

ORGANIC, the multi award-winning film and television PR arm of Target Group, Havas Media Group’s specialist culture, gaming, film and television offering, today announced the appointment of senior television publicity specialist Christina Joyce as senior consultant, to strengthen the agency’s footprint within the UK and international television market and streaming space.

Former executive director at Premier PR, Christina was responsible for building and overseeing the agency’s successful Television department. Having left Premier in the summer of 2019 to set up her own agency, XXIV Communications, Christina has been brought on board by ORGANIC, bringing with her over 20 years of experience and relationships, to grow and oversee the agency’s existing proposition and enhance their expertise in the television sector.

Christina has built a reputation for her strategic and creative approach with a breadth and depth of experience across corporate comms and full-service programme PR both agency-side and in-house, having started out as a publicist at the BBC. She has spearheaded a broad range of cross-genre campaigns from niche documentaries and children’s programming through to flagship entertainment shows. She has also launched some of the UK’s most talked about dramas of the last two decades including HUSTLE, LIFE ON MARS, HAPPY VALLEY, THE NIGHT MANAGER and the Matt Smith / Steven Moffatt era of DOCTOR WHO.

Of her new role at ORGANIC, Christina Joyce commented: “I have been fortunate enough to work with some of the industry’s most inspiring and creative TV execs over the last 20 years. They have helped television evolve into what I think is the greatest destination for first-class storytelling and as a self-confessed TV nerd, I couldn’t be happier. When Caragh [Cook] suggested we join forces, I jumped at the opportunity to work with such an innovative and creatively driven team who are at the forefront of entertainment PR.

“Together we offer something new and unique to TV production companies, broadcasters and streamers; a fresh perspective and a genuinely integrated team combining creative publicity expertise, social media strategy and an enviable contacts list across so many media sectors, all underpinned with an innate understanding of the ever-changing television landscape. And best of all, they are great to work with; passionate, creative, knowledgeable and a lot of fun. I know we will be a force to be reckoned with.”

Recently the agency has also secured three significant new business wins. The first was a competitive pitch to handle year-round PR for the prestigious Edinburgh TV Festival and TV Foundation which supports emerging talent to promote a diverse future for the industry.

ORGANIC’s social media team have been retained to work with UKTV’s history and documentary channel, YESTERDAY, on ongoing strategy and channel management.

ORGANIC has also reteamed with Caryn Mandabach Productions to work on PEAKY BLINDERS for the forthcoming sixth series which will transmit on BBC One. ORGANIC was responsible for launching the BAFTA-winning BBC drama when it debuted on BBC Two, in 2013 having been engaged to bring their renowned film expertise and cinematic sensibility to the promotion of this ground-breaking series.

Since then, ORGANIC has been actively broadening its presence in the television industry. The agency was hired by Netflix in 2013 to work on the second season of ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK and subsequently became the SVOD’s retained agency for UK publicity.

Largely due to the team’s expertise and experience of working on foreign language films, ORGANIC were commissioned to be the agency that would work with Channel 4 on the launch of WALTER PRESENTS, their high-quality foreign language drama VOD service.

Last year Noah Media Group appointed ORGANIC as their retained agency, handling corporate publicity for the company and their growing portfolio of film and television sport documentaries.

ORGANIC’s managing director Caragh Cook commented: “We are thrilled that Christina has joined us. She is so highly regarded, and her knowledge of the television industry is hugely impressive. She is brimming with ideas and has a passion and energy which will see her fit in very well at ORGANIC. I look forward to working with Christina to build on the experience we already have within the team across UK Publicity, International and Social, to create something truly special.

“As the only female managing director of a major film and TV PR agency in the UK, in a month when we are celebrating International Women’s Day, it makes me very proud to be welcoming Christina – who is a leader in her field – to join the many other brilliant women in my senior leadership team.

“The past ten years has seen a real shift in the entertainment landscape and television shows are now reaching global audiences. Television is more cinematic than ever before, opening up opportunities for experts in film publicity, like ORGANIC, to bring a fresh approach to TV launches. Our agency has 'organically' moved into the television space, and we have had the honour of working on many phenomenally successful shows with trailblazing writers, showrunners and clients who share ORGANIC’s sensibilities of disrupting, innovating and challenging traditional models.”

This appointment further strengthens a team that includes account director Thom Will who joined ORGANIC at the start of 2019 from IJPR where he led the campaigns for BBC dramas THE MISSING, CALL THE MIDWIFE, THE HOLLOW CROWN, WALLANDER and ITV dramas LIAR, STRANGERS and THE WIDOW. Thom was the first communications professional to be selected for the television industry’s most prestigious talent scheme, the Edinburgh TV Festival’s Ones to Watch programme in 2017.

The news of this appointment follows the recent opening of an office in LA and sees ORGANIC consolidate and bolster its capabilities to offer a fully integrated service to the wider film and TV industries on a global level.
