Black Dog Director Thora Hilmars shot the music video with the aim to reflect the powerful lyrics in his visuals
Earlier this year, Thora Hilmars directed 're:member' for BAFTA winning artist, composer, musician and producer Ólafur Arnalds.
The Icelandic composer has now announced details of his new album of the same name. re:member will be out in August via Mercury KX.
Arnlaud has also shared the video for ‘unfold’, the second from Black Dog Director Thora Hilmars.
Of the video Thora said; "This is the second video that I made for musician Ólafur Arnalds. The videos are connected, they both take place in a post-apocalyptic world and their stories are intertwined but the atmosphere in each video is vastly different. For me Óli’s music is very cinematic and it takes you on a journey of emotions. His songs are powerful, uplifting and sorrowful at the same time and I wanted to reflect that in this video."
re:member features Ólafur’s ground-breaking new software, Stratus, which transforms the piano into a self-playing, semi-generative instrument. The custom-built software controlling the piano is the result of two years of work by Ólafur and audio developer Halldór Eldjárn.
“This is my breaking out-of-a-shell album, It’s me taking the raw influences that I have from all these different musical genres and not filtering them. It explores the creative process and how one can manipulate that to get out of the circle of expectations and habit.” Ólafur Arnalds
