After years as a colourist at The Mill and Coffee & TV, Katie joins the team led by Franky Chadwick, new colour EP at OkayStudio

Post production house OkayStudio is ringing in the new year with a pivotal addition to its colour department, appointing Katie Dymmock as colourist. Leading the team is Franky Chadwick, recently promoted to Colour EP. Franky brings a wealth of experience from her tenure as a lead producer at several of London’s top post production houses. Her profound technical insight and unwavering passion for colour are integral parts of her impressive credentials.

These developments, coupled with the success of colourist Alex O'Brien who joined last year, underline the creative development of OkayStudio’s colour department, continuing its legacy as a cornerstone of the company.

Established as one of the most exciting colourists in the industry - previously named Kinsale Shark’s Best New Colourist - Katie kickstarted her impressive career under the mentorship of Simona Cristea, first at Rushes and then at Coffee & TV. Moving on to The Mill, Katie made her mark in a global facility while continuing to grow as an artist.

Her career has granted her the opportunity to work on a wide range of high-profile projects. Highlights include music promos such as New Rules ‘Ghost Town’ and Hendrix Harris ‘It’s Not You’, UKMVA nominated for Best Colour Grading, and fully CG car commercials for the likes of Mercedes x Riot and Volvo, shortlisted at the Berlin Commercial Awards. This track record of working on large-scale advertising campaigns, as well her extensive experience in beauty and fashion, mirrors OkayStudio's success in both fields in recent years.

The addition of Katie’s diverse skills and wealth of experience will prime OkayStudio’s colour department to undertake yet more ambitious projects, setting new benchmarks for excellence in colour grading. A team player, her arrival not only adds individual talent to the team, but also enriches the creative environment OkayStudio is known for, fostering innovation and collaboration between offline, colour and VFX talent.

Katie Dymmock, colourist, comments: “I’m truly grateful to be joining the colour team at OkayStudio. Junior colourist Alex O’Brien is not only a talented colourist with extensive experience in the industry, but also an incredibly kind and passionate person. The cherry on top is Franky joining, it’s been all laughs and smiles since my first meeting with her, and between the four of us I’m really looking forward to fostering more of OkayStudio’s honest and supportive spirit within the colour team.”

Franky Chadwick, colour EP, comments: “I have loved working freelance with the OkayStudio team for the past few years, so the opportunity to come aboard and expand the colour department is so exciting. The team all have tremendous passion for their work and it’s reflected in the calibre of projects coming out. Following last year’s steady growth, it felt like the perfect time to bring in another colourist. I’ve followed Katie’s work for years and she’s one of the most talented and dedicated colourists I know. Her joining to broaden what is already a fantastic department makes me incredibly excited for what is to come.”

Nikolaj Belzer, co-founding partner and MD, adds: “When looking for a new colourist, it was important to us to find someone whose work complements the projects and clients that we have built, as well as creatively elevate and bring in another level of seniority to the department. Katie brings all of this in spades, as well as an infectious energy, a generous creative spirit and a fun and friendly personality that fits in beautifully with our existing team. We also see so many creative synergies between Katie and some of our other artists, particularly in editorial, so we are excited to see some of the magic that they create together.”
