Ogilvy and Mather bagged the Black Elephant for its short film 'Beauty tips by Reshma'

At the third Kyoorius Creative Awards for the best advertising agencies in multiple categories, Ogilvy India’s flag was seen flying high.  The awards were held in Mumbai on the evening of June 3, 2016, at the NSCI dome.

The awards were given in Advertising, Digital and Media categories, the latter being this year’s addition.  The most sought after award being the prestigious Black Elephant awards for outstanding work.

Ogilvy won 17 Elephants including one Black Elephant.

Ogilvy and Mather bagged the Black Elephant for its short film 'Beauty tips by Reshma' which urged people to push for a ban on the sale of acid. Harshad Rajadhyaksha and Kainaz Karmakar are the creative talent behind the ‘Beauty tips by Reshma’ campaign.

Kainaz Karmakar, ECD, Ogilvy Mumbai, said: "Every award that this campaign gets is special, because every time this campaign is recognised, the cause is recognised. I am especially proud of Harshik and Geetanjali, our team that dedicated themselves to this cause at every step of the way. And hats off to Reshma and her bravery to stand by us through the campaign."

Harshad Rajadhyaksha, ECD, Ogilvy Mumbai commented: "It takes a brave client to do a brave campaign. A big thank you to Ria Sharma, our partner at Make Love Not Scars. The work they are doing is truly stupendous and deserves all the support it can get. I am happy that we could play a small part in the big change they strive to achieve."

The specialist juries, selected from around the world, together with D&AD,  gathered together in India to review, discuss and elect the best of the best over three intensive days. Voting is private and not by a show of hands.

The Advertising jury comprised R Balki (Jury Foreman), Agnello Dias, Nima Namchu, Tista Sen, Ajay Gahlaut, Scott McClelland, David Comar, Scott Dungate, Marco Besana.

The Digital Jury comprised Ralph Barnett (Jury Foreman), Corey Cruz, Cary Steele, Gauri Joshi, Karl Gomes, Debashish Ghosh, Shormistha Mukherjee.

The Media jury comprised Mike Florence (Jury Foreman), Steven Kalifowitz, Steven Li, Swati Bhattacharya, Pat Law, Shripad Kulkarni, Kartik Sharma.

Rajiv Rao, National Creative Director, Ogilvy India. says: "I am happy and equally proud that we won most of the elephants at the 2016 Kyoorius Creative Awards.  The jury consists of very high profile talent from India and around the world. The judging process and the scale of the event is also impressive.  I am especially happy that #EndAcidSale# which is the Reshma story for our client Make Love Not Scars, won the most awards.  Acid is easily accessible in India, so the solution is very simple - end the sale of acid.  This issue has been neglected for too long. We appealed to the Government of India to make this happen. The campaign has received phenomenal response."

Unlike any other awards in India, the Creative Kyoorius Awards have no winning tier structure of gold, silver & bronze – all the best work is awarded a Blue Elephant.

The judging is based on three criteria, reviewing if the entry is:

• An original and inspiring idea

• Well-executed

• Relevant to its context
