Artist duo Mandy + Barnaby create mechanical dress to mix your drinks

Forget waiting at the bar for a drink; the creators of curiously flavoured ODDKA have teamed up with artist duo Mandy + Barnaby to create a ‘frocktail’, a mechanical dress that blends ingredients to create the perfect cocktail wherever you are.

The multi-layered dress, featuring tiers adorned with decorations to represent ODDKA’s latest flavour to join the range, Strawberry Milkshake, rotates and shifts as the drink mixes and trickles through each layer.

The project forms part of ODDstarter, an initiative from ODDKA to find and fund left-field ideas and start-ups from around the world. Renowned sculptural artist (and TED talk speaker) Mandy Smith and product designer Barnaby Monk were selected due to their eccentric and inventive designs, taking inspiration from both the fantastical and the everyday to create installations combining intricate design with a unique craftsmanship.

Jonas Gustafsson, Global Junior Brand Manager for ODDKA, says: “With peculiar flavours such as Electricity and Fresh Cut Grass, we’re a drinks brand known for pushing the boundaries.  To celebrate London Fashion Week we wanted to put our odd stamp on the fashion world, and who knows, you may see frocktail designs all over the catwalk next year.”

Mandy Smith says: “Strawberry Milkshake ODDKA is weird and wonderful, so we wanted to create an installation that was equally unconventional. Creating a dress that makes a cocktail was an exciting project; we could really think big given just how inherently odd the product is.”

The dress was inspired by ODDKA’s new flavour Strawberry Milkshake, which will be served in Scream bars and available to buy in Tesco’s, Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s from 5th October.
