Ntropic welcomes Executive Producer Jim Riche to Los Angeles studio and expands with New York office
Led by Founder/Creative Director Nathan Robinson, the award-winning team at Ntropic has welcomed its new Executive Producer Jim Riche, who joins the company from Digital Domain’s commercial division. Featuring the combined talents of Robinson, Andrew Sinagra, Simon Mowbray, MB Emigh and Marshall Plante, the Ntropic team this month also unveils an office in New York, elevating its presence on the east coast, and expanding the studio’s creative reach.

“Jim is such an intelligent and experienced EP,” comments Ntropic’s Nate Robinson. “We have great respect for the work he did at Digital Domain and the fact that he is such a seasoned professional having worked in commercials, TV, and feature films for over 25 years. After just our initial meeting, I knew Jim was the perfect partner to help take Ntropic to the next level. I believe we each have a lot to learn from one another, which is both refreshing and motivating.”

EP Jim Riche (who is based in Ntropic’s Los Angeles office in Santa Monica) began his career as a DP and moved into motion control, then producing and directing. He was one of the first Harry operators in the US, and has managed staffs of up to 200 people for the production of “PeeWee’s Playhouse,” as well as in his most recent position as EP at Digital Domain. Riche has also had tenures at such well-known companies as Troika Design Group, Broadcast Arts and Nice Shoes/Guava in New York.

“The combination of talent, capabilities and collaboration is what attracted me to Ntropic,” explains Riche. “Everyone here will jump in to help and leave his or her ego outside. Ntropic is all about the creative process and the quality of its work. The ability to work with the clients to develop the creative, and go through production, edit, 3D animation, color grading and full visual effects is great. Ntropic is part of the new breed of company that is here to service clients no matter what the needs are. The fact that we can run a job concurrently through San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York makes this studio a very appealing option and an exciting place to work.”

Located in the heart of New York City’s Meat Packing District, Ntropic’s Manhattan office overlooks the Standard Hotel and sits right under the new High Line aerial greenway. EP Sharon Lew has joined the company to handle Business Development/Sales on the East Coast. Ntropic Producer Kara Holstrom has moved from San Francisco to handle day-to-day management of New York. All three offices are digitally connected, with New York offering color grading on Lustre, Flame, 3D and design. Ntropic will be naming a new Creative Director/VFX Supervisor for the New York office soon.

“New York City has an incredibly vibrant artistic community,” concludes Robinson. “For us as artists, having an office there really opens us up to new influences and a diversity of projects, which we are very excited about.” Ntropic is currently in the midst of its inaugural commercial project for ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi/NY. They are also working on national commercials for Bank of New York and Dodge Ram.

Well-known on the West Coast for their television work this year for “American Idol” and Ford, and “Hawaii Five-O,” Ntropic has also made major creative contributions to a global advertising campaign for Franklin Templeton, as well as commercials for HP and Cricket. They are currently working on VFX for the 2012 release of “Total Recall.”
