Rebecca Armstrong is named CEO

Portland, OR independent creative agency North announced today that it has evolved its leadership roles. While co-founders Rebecca Armstrong and chief creative officer Mark Ray will continue leading the agency in partnership, Armstrong will assume the role of North’s first chief executive officer and Ray will focus on expanding on North’s branded and entertainment content capabilities.

The move allows Rebecca, an industry veteran of 30 years and principal at North for the past 13 years, to focus on guiding North through a rapidly changing landscape in addition to her role in leading new business development for the agency.

“Rebecca is an amazing partner and I can’t think of a better person to help guide North into the future as the role of an agency changes and expands,” says Mark.

Jordan Delapoer will be taking over Rebecca’s role as managing director and will focus on client services and business operations. Jordan, a Wieden+Kennedy alum, has led North’s integrated strategy team as brand strategy director since 2011. In his previous role as director of brand strategy, Jordan directed integrated and social-specific brand campaigns and led audience insight, brand positioning, and channel strategies.

“Jordan already has the implicit trust of our clients and our team for his strategic and leadership skills so this move just makes sense,” said Rebecca.

In recent years, North has led client relationships and strategy for brands in the lifestyle, organic and natural, food and beverage categories including, Columbia Sportswear, KEEN Footwear, Peet’s Coffee, Hydro Flask, CLIF Bar, Stanley (thermos), Hood River Distillers and the Anchor Brewing Company.
