Dirk Verheye and Inti Calfat are Norman Bates, an international directing duo. Their work stands out for a very genuine and organic aesthetic. They have shot global commercial campaigns for Coca-Cola, HTC, Mazda, Mercedes, Renault, Samsonite, Uniqlo, and the European Parliament among many others.
Within Rebolucion, Dirk and Inti have recently directed the international campaign 'The Big Breath' for Philips with Tim And Daan and DEPT. “Director Norman Bates and cinematographer Dimitri Karakatsanis have balanced style and substance well, allowing the audience to really feel the relief when the deep breath from the start is finally exhaled.”, said Syd Briscoe in David Reviews.
"Inti and Dirk have been between the European and UK markets for a while now and what I think it's great about them is that they have a global vision that makes them understand the markets profoundly and bring them together. They have the ability to combine craft and sensitivity in their films", commented Florencia Arrizabalaga, MD/EP at Rebolucion UK.
The duo combines a career as fiction creators/directors with their work in advertising. To them, both worlds influence each other with a strong central focus on stories and concepts. In 2017, they shot 'Over Water', their first series for Belgian Networks. In 2019, they directed 'Into The Night' for Netflix.
Norman Bates recently shot 'No Fear Too Small' for Mountain Dew. “We shot this film over four days in Armenia with its beautiful landscapes, great people, and more unexplored scenery. This film honours every individual and shows us that every kind of fear deserves respect.” the duo said.
