No Smoke Signs Director Eric Van Wyke

Production company No Smoke has added to its talent roster Eric Van Wyke, a young American director with a reputation for crafting immersive, story-driven content. View his reel here.

Van Wyke’s work has taken him around the globe for clients such as Coca Cola, Converse, BMW, and SNCF. For his work with the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, he was awarded a Silver Dolphin at the 2014 Cannes Corporate Television & Media awards. For the past six years he’s been working as a digital content and commercial director in Berlin.

After graduating with a degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska, Van Wyke spent seven years between the vastly varied worlds of Berlin, Paris, Barcelona and now New York.

Wanting to find some way of documenting the pulse of these bustling metropoles as an American living in Europe, Van Wyke ultimately transitioned from the written word to filmmaking, where he discovered an uncanny knack for weaving a cinematic narrative into everyday life.

Van Wyke mixes together elements of sport, fashion, humour and lifestyle in his work and thrives on collaborating with others to produce authentic, emotive pieces with a raw and vibrant visual energy. Return clients love his balance of leadership and resourcefulness.

“There are many kinds of directors—some are intellectual and others are street smart; some plan meticulously while others prefer to shoot from the hip,” said No Smoke’s Executive Producer Michael Merryman. “Eric’s process is more like cold pressed juice because he takes all these storytelling tools and distils them into an emotional, visual essence”
