All share deal sees Resister’s all female management team join the Enchant Group Board

Music supervision company Resister Music Ltd., the first to actively promote women and diverse musicians to the the media-music marketplace, has been acquired by the newly formed 'industry powerhouse' Enchant Group, in an all share deal which sees Resister’s all female management team join the Enchant Group Board.

This is Enchant Group’s second major acquisition in recent months, following the purchase of sonic consultancy Sonicbrand in October. A series of further acquisitions are set to be completed over the coming months.

Resister was founded by Hannah Charman and Hollie Hutton in 2020 to deliver music supervision services to the movie, gaming and advertising industries. Notable credits include music for Barbie, The Batman, Netflix and BBC’s Get Even and The Syndicate as well as brand work  for Bacardi and Unilever’s Magnum and Dove.

Daniel Jackson, 52, chairs the Enchant Group. He explains, “The music for media space is dominated by male creators - just 14% of film scores are created by women.  Resister identified this and sought to change the industry by promoting a female and diverse roster of composers and musicians. The effect has been immediate and significant. By joining forces with Enchant, Resister can accelerate towards its goal of gender equality in the audio industry.

“The Enchant Group is fast becoming an industry powerhouse. Following the acquisition of Sonicbrand, the addition of Resister makes complete sense for us as we seek to provide the best talent to our brand and entertainment clients, focusing on authentic and representative creators perfectly matched to our clients’ needs.”

Hollie Hutton, 39, co-founder of Resister said: “Resister's mission to level the playing field for a diverse range of creators has opened the door for so many talented women to enter the media music industry. Being part of Enchant Group broadens our reach in terms of clients and countries and will significantly speed up the process of introducing more authentic voices to the functional audio space.”

Hannah Charman, 36, co-founder added, “Being invited to the Board of Enchant means that we can embed our mission within the broader portfolio as well as help guide the Group as it grows around the world. We are incredibly proud of what Resister has achieved in the five years since it was founded and we are certain that with the expertise and financial resources of Enchant we can do even more to level up the role of women and the overall diversity of the industry.”

Future plans for Resister include direct investments into 515, its composer agency and the acquisition of copyright to augment Resister's boutique music catalogue 'Earhart'.

The financial details of the Enchant Group’s acquisition of Resister were not disclosed.
