Directed by the talented Lieven Van Baelen and made alongside the agency Quick Brown Foxes - Hands comes a new spot, helping people discover the little piece of heaven called Limburg situated in Flanders, Belgium.
This poetic spot follows the story of Matteo Simoni, a renowned Belgian actor, who re-discovers his home. Limburg is a place where the flowers always bloom, and where friends laugh the loudest. You wouldn’t necessarily think of Belgium as a holiday destination, but in these times, where many people still don’t feel comfortable to travel large distances, Belgium might just be the perfect place. The creative agency wanted to push the idea that you don’t always have to go far to discover beauty: sometimes it’s right in front of you.
The film begins with a beautiful shot of Matteo in the water - almost lifeless - as if he has lost sight of this beauty right in front of him. Then all of a sudden, he is awakened by the same fact. It starts slow but then rushes through and between beautiful scenic parts of the area. From biking in the lush woods to laying on a boat, cruising through the soft water. Viewers witness some of Limburg’s most iconic places, but also with many more to discover. Everything seen in the film is aimed to make you want to pack your bag and reenergise in Limburg.
Filmed with a limited crew - while abiding by the safety measures given by the government - Lieven, as in most of his work, was also the DOP. This gives him a unique take to create a visual story, with his craft and skills in both directing and working behind the camera being undeniable.
