AMV BBDO have created a film for the Met Police to help reduce scooter theft by encouraging riders to change their behaviour and use more than one security feature to secure their bike. The film will launch online this week.
Scooter theft is on the up in London. Over 8,000 scooters were stolen in the last year alone. And many of the stolen vehicles were then used to commit snatch and robbery offences.
In many cases, owners have inadequate security or no security at all on their scooters, making it easy for thieves to steal them.
The film Easy Bait wants to show riders that one simple thing, like layering up security on their scooter, can be a big deterrent for these criminals.
Stephanie Day, Marketing Director at Metropolitan Police, comments: “Insight told us that scooter riders were often unaware of how to secure their vehicles and had little confidence that security would make a difference. This film is an innovative way of engaging our audience to show how easily and quickly a scooter can be taken and how layering security can really make a difference. We are delighted with the results.”
