The Immortal Awards juror and PRETTYBIRD president on the wanderlust-filled film from AMV and Jonathan Glazer
With just a few weeks to go until this year's Immortal Awards deadline, our jurors have been taking it in turns to select the ads and campaigns that are most immortal to them, revealing the reasons why they've stayed with them until this day.

Today's ad has been selected by Ali Brown, president of PRETTYBIRD, and is directed by 'the most immortal of the Immortals in this business'...

The deadline for this year's Immortal Awards is Friday 10th September. More information on how to enter can be found at the bottom of the article.

Wrangler 'Ride' (Abbott Mead Vickers, 2000)

I hold onto the Wrangler 'Ride' spot in my heart and mind in a way that makes it Immortal and also likely qualifies me as obsessed. And I’m sure I’m not alone in keeping the memory of this one lit.

The film has trains, fire, food, sex, beautiful landscapes, inclement weather, sexy cars, danger, dancing, and buffalo. Basically a menu of all my favorite things. And they are mixed together in a way that perfectly encapsulates the feeling of wanderlust – all set to the iconic “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” whose lyrics have always dared the bold to be brave.

The spot infuses you instantly with that feeling of adventure, fear, laughter, surprise, and raw pulsing energy with each frame. You cannot help but feel the freedom and thrill of the road as you watch. It’s an adrenaline rush and perfectly badass in every way – visually, editorially, conceptually, musically. It took the notion of what it was to be a “cowboy” in your Wranglers and redefined it for the new millennium.

It’s like a teaser for a film about the life I wish I was brave enough to live and I dream Jonathan Glazer (the most immortal of the Immortals in this business) would actually make…
