As the original deadline for the first ever International Music+Sound Awards looms, entries have been coming in thick and fast from all around the globe from Advertising Agencies, Production Companies, Composers, Studios, Sound Designers, Directors, Publishers, Labels and Music Production Companies all quick to see the potential of the endorsement offered by the Music+Sound Awards impressive jury of industry movers and shakers. As word has spread about the first global celebration of music and sound design, interest has rocketed so the organisers have decided to extend the deadline for entries to midnight (GMT) on the 19th April 2013.
With the very low cost of entry (just £95 or £85 with eligible discount) the Music+Sound Awards are accessible to emerging talent as much as they are to the major players of the industry. Nick Payne, co-founder explains, “we have deliberately kept our submission fees to an absolute minimum to give everyone an equal opportunity to shine.” And goes on to say, “the Music+Sound Awards are all about showcasing and celebrating great talent whether established or up-and-coming. Unlike other awards programmes out there our categories and judging criteria have been devised so that even those that have been working on low (or no) budget work have an opportunity to be recognised by the industry for their talent.”
To date, the response to this inaugural event has been fantastic. Dan Neale, co-founder tells us, “we are seeing entries from all over the world and it’s all work of a very high standard. Advertisers, Film Makers, Composers, Publishers, Labels and Sound Designers have all seen the potential in our awards programme”, and goes on to say, “the calibre of our jury illustrates just how important the entire media industry think our event is.”
Awards are presented for Best Original Composition, Best Sound Design and Best Use of Existing Music across the entire audio and visual media industries. A full list of categories, jurors and details on how to enter work can be seen on the Music+Sound Awards website: www.masawards.com/international
In celebration of all the work that is shortlisted and / or goes on to be awarded, the organisers will be hosting a party on Plage Goeland beach in Cannes, 21st June 2013, on the fringe of the Festival of Creativity.
