Manners McDade is delighted to welcome Florestano (aka Leonardo Salvaro), who released his debut album ‘Noh’ with Kowloon Records earlier this year.
Exploring off-kilter electronic rhythms and disorienting sonics, Florestano carves out unique, constantly shifting soundworlds on ‘Noh’, layering his old black piano and drums before weaving in the synthesized sounds of hardware and software. Never fully placing itself into any genre, Salvaro’s sound sculptures blend techno sensibilities with the dissonance and sound design of experimental/glitch, and the exciting unpredictability of avant-jazz.
Florestano says of the signing, “I contacted Catherine to discuss about a collaboration with Kowloon Records; almost immediately our conversation turned into Florestano and she proposed to sign me. I was talking with some other guys at the time; I went to visit Catherine at their office and I found a great family of motivated and enthusiastic people. I thought this must be a great place to be!”
Catherine Manners, Director of Manners McDade says of the signing, “The first time we heard ‘Noh’, everyone in the office agreed that we should sign Florestano. We had to move quickly to beat our competitors, but luckily, we’re pretty good at that!”
Florestano is currently working towards his December tour of the USA with KIASMOS.
