“I look forward to really diving into the US market and creating my best work yet with them”
Los Angeles-based production company JOJX adds the nuanced directing talents of Paul Butterworth to its diverse roster. This is Paul’s first US representation, having established himself as a preeminent tabletop director in the UK, Europe, Australia and Asia.
Paul has developed a reputation for crafting charming and emotive films rooted in authenticity. Throughout his career, he has held many roles within the world of advertising and filmmaking, allowing him to distill best creative practices from some of the industry’s most revered directing icons and build his own personal approach to brand work.
Over the years, Paul advanced his truly unique craft, generating work that is highly technical, ultra modern, and altogether revolutionary. His work has gained him international recognition as one of the most forward thinking and relevant tabletop directors around the world.
Since his shift into full-time direction, Paul's films have celebrated the offbeat and highlighted the irresistible everyday quirks of humanity. Combined with his dynamic shooting and editing style his skills have made him a sought-after director for both narrative and tabletop work. He has helmed extremely immersive projects for Lurpak, Sainsbury’s, Ford, BMW, Ferrero, Etihad Airways, MTV, Caterpillar, and WWE. Paul has garnered international awards for his work, including Best Director and Best Editor at Promax Australia & New Zealand.
“We’re very happy to have Paul join us,” said Pedro Aragão De Oliveira, partner and executive producer at JOJX. “His tabletop work is fresh and stands out from the traditional, really leading the game. Pair that with his uncanny ability to draw you in emotionally and you have an easy sell to agencies. JOJX has already won two job bids for him, including a Kashi rebrand. We’re honoured to be his first representation in the US and introduce him more fully to this vibrant market.”
“I’m excited to embark on this chapter of my directing career with the industry titans at JOJX by my side,” added Paul. “I look forward to really diving into the US market and creating my best work yet with them.”
Paul is also represented in the UK by Johnny Foreigner and worldwide by Gesas. He is based in Bristol, England.
