Oriana joins the team from leading international NGO Forum for the Future and is also member of the Board of Trustees for the Sustainable Shipping Initiative and the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Singapore
MullenLowe Sustainability has appointed Oriana Brine as associate director, to lead client management and drive business growth.

Oriana joins the team from leading international NGO Forum for the Future where she was a senior sustainability strategist, working with companies across APAC to solve complex sustainability challenges including Dole, China Navigation (Swire Group), Zespri, Unilever, Air New Zealand and Oxfam. Prior to Forum, she spent the last decade working on sustainability issues in the food and energy industry in Asia Pacific.

In 2020, she was elected as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Sustainable Shipping Initiative and the New Zealand Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. She holds a Master of Science from the University of Auckland, specialising in marine biodiversity.

Announcing Oriana’s appointment, Suzy Goulding, director, MullenLowe salt said, “Since we launched MullenLowe Sustainability last year, we have seen a growing interest and desire from companies in the region for support in developing and communicating their sustainability strategies because of the urgent worldwide call for action to address climate change.  For many in the region this is new and challenging territory - they need guidance and counsel from professionals with technical sustainability experience who can also help them communicate with honesty and transparency while inspiring others to transform.  Oriana brings technical rigour and systems thinking to our offering which when combined with the team’s deep communications expertise in this field enables us to offer a truly professional service.”

Commenting on her appointment, Oriana said, “I’m excited to join a global creative agency to catalyse purposeful yet credible sustainability communications and systems thinking. MullenLowe has some exceptional clients who are hungry to transform, remain competitive, and thrive in increasingly challenging conditions. Times have changed and brands need to rapidly evolve from the days of broad, generic climate change or human rights commitments. Brands are uniquely positioned to celebrate all the diverse voices on sustainability in the region to engage wider audiences. I’m looking forward to working with businesses to communicate complex technical information in a language that anyone can understand, is compelling, and goal oriented.”

MullenLowe Sustainability launched in Asia last November, offering specialist support to businesses and brands across the region looking to turn good intentions into transformative action.  The specialist practice is part of MullenLowe salt Singapore, MullenLowe Group’s strategic communications arm and a proud B-Corp.  MullenLowe Sustainability aims to ‘build better business’ by offering a range of services to businesses at all stages in their sustainability journey, including sustainability strategy and articulation, business case and leadership engagement, industry and competitor benchmarking, trend mapping, ESG advisory and positioning, internal and external communications support, and partnership recommendations and brokering.

MullenLowe salt has 20 years of experience in driving impactful purpose-driven sustainability campaigns, having provided strategic leadership on Lifebuoy’s famous ‘Help A Child Reach 5’ campaign, which included developing a successful advocacy campaign for handwashing with soap to be included in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and co-creating the global strategy for Global Handwashing Day, an awareness event recognised by the UN and now in its 12th year. Recent sustainability clients include PepsiCo, Epson, Asia Pacific Breweries and WWF.
