The globally renowned MPC Colour team is expanding with two promotions in
the US. Amanda Ornelas has been named the new Executive Producer for Colour, and
former Colour Assistant Derek Hansen has been promoted to Colourist.
Amanda brings over 11 years of industry experience to her new position and will provide strategic leadership, vision and business acumen in spearheading MPC’s colour grade development operations across the US. Prior to joining MPC, she spent time on both coasts with leading advertising agencies Ogilvy & Mather LA and McCann Erickson NY. She has worked with leading industry directors including Rupert Sanders and Adam Berg, and Director of Photography Linus Sandgren.
MPC LA Managing Director Andrew Bell states: “Amanda has proven over the years to be a highly valuable leader who has a deep commitment to expanding the colour grading department. Her creative energy and passion are present in every job she works on and are appreciated by clients and colleagues alike. We’re excited for her role to expand and to experience the new ways she will continue to enhance the department.”
Derek is already an integral part of the MPC Colour team. His burgeoning career boasts collaborations with high profile directors such as Radical Friend, BRTHR, and Young Replicant. His client list is equally impressive with iconic brands that include McDonald’s, Honda, Victoria’s Secret, and Vogue. Derek recently contributed to eight spots that aired during Super Bowl 2014, under the direction of US Creative Director of Colour Grading Mark Gethin.
Mark explains: "I'm
really excited about Derek's promotion. We've been working very closely for the
last couple of years and he’s been doing some great work. Derek already has a
beautiful reel and a growing reputation as a very talented artist. I'm looking
forward to seeing his career flourish over the next few years and I have no
doubt he will establish himself as one of the most sought after colourists in
the US."
