4Creative and MPC have created a dramatic new trailer for an upcoming Hollyoaks storyline.
The brief for the project was to create a teaser for a powerful episode of Hollyoaks, without divulging the full storyline. We open on what appears to be a normal wedding photo about to be taken, which quickly descends into chaos as an explosion creates devastation.

MPC worked closely with Director Rob Blishen on the piece, who decided on an abstract approach by placing the Hollyoaks cast in a maelstrom of glass, dust and general chaos.
VFX Supervisor Chrys Aldred said: "Working with Rob was fantastic. We concepted together to bring his idea to life and the finished piece is the perfect mix of confusion and suspense, using gorgeous filmography.”
The piece was shot on a Phantom camera at very high speed in order to get the majority of the maelstrom in camera.
Due to the high speed of filming, elements such as the floating beads from a broken necklace were built in 3D, to give the team the freedom to design both the motion and framing of each bead.
The team also used elements from MPC’s element library, including the liquid champagne splashes and smoke effects. The additional glass elements were created in Maya from shot references using a combination of procedural and hand modelling techniques.
Director Rob Blishen said: “Thank you MPC for all your hard work, as with all the best work it is there on the screen, with all your artistry sending the edit singing along. I hope you had as much fun as I did”
Matt Osborne added the sleek grade: "We discussed a number of stylish references with Rob, from David Lynch films stills to Gregory Crewdson photography. We gave the explosion shots a sense of depth by feeding colour and contrast across selected parts of the image, while giving the opening and end scenes a classy yet eerie feel."
