Lucky Post provided post supervision for the film

Lucky Post is excited to have provided post supervision, colour, finish and supplemental editing for the highly-anticipated feature film ‘Miss Juneteenth,’ directed by Channing Godfrey Peoples, which makes its world premiere at Sundance 2020. Lucky Post’s team was led by post supervisor/finish artist Tim Nagle and colourist Neil Anderson, with editorial support by Sai Selvarajan. The film is screening six times during Sundance as part of the festival’s US Dramatic Competition.

Director Channing has created a film that draws audiences deep into a honey-bourbon South that is rich with heat, sincerity, and thick Texan charm. In it, Turquoise Jones is a single mom who holds down a household, a rebellious teenager, and pretty much everything that goes down at Wayman’s BBQ & Lounge. Turquoise is also a bona fide beauty queen - she was once crowned Miss Juneteenth, a title commemorating the day slaves in Texas were freed – two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Life didn’t turn out as beautifully as the title promised, but Turquoise, determined to right her wrongs, is cultivating her daughter, Kai, to become Miss Juneteenth, even if Kai wants something else.

The film was produced by David Lowery, Toby Halbrooks, and James M. Johnston of Sailor Bear. Lucky Post previously collaborated with Sailor Bear on ‘The Old Man & The Gun,’ starring Robert Redford and Sissy Spacek, and the critically-acclaimed film ‘Ghost Story.’
