Legendary record label and dance music brand Ministry of Sound have announced a new partnership with leading mental wellness app Calm, releasing a selection of exclusive mixes available for all Calm users from today.
Titled “Ministry of Sound Chillout Sessions”, the new project was facilitated by Sony Music UK creative and strategy hub 4th Floor Creative. Ministry has produced three bespoke relaxation mixes, “Ibiza (Calm mix)”, “Energy (Calm mix)”, and “Clarity (Calm mix)”, which invite users to immerse themselves in Balearic beats, ambient sounds and purposeful rhythms.
This continues Ministry of Sound’s experimentation with functional music; the growing trend for music curated to soundtrack specific activities, with artists increasingly using activities like meditation as a chance to connect with listeners in new contexts. The new “Ibiza (Calm mix)” meanwhile makes use of Ministry of Sound’s connection with the Ibiza club scene and seeks to transport listeners who have been confined to their homes after a year of club closures.
Chillout Sessions will be available to all Calm users from 15 July 2021.
