Milk Announces Revolutionary Marathon Experience through Female-First Film with Amanda Gorman

To help conceptualise Every Woman’s Marathon, Milk and GALE enlisted an advisory board comprised of Kathrine Switzer, Danielle McLaughlin, Deena Kastor, Alison Desir and Des Linden

Acknowledging the historically intimidating and male-centric nature of marathons, Milk, the original performance beverage, proudly announces Every Woman’s Marathon, the only U.S. marathon designed by and for women. Scheduled for November 16, 2024, in Savannah, Georgia, this monumental event marks a new chapter in Milk's commitment to supporting women - creating not only a race but a movement. 

Announcing the powerful initiative, Milk and Business Agency GALE tapped acclaimed poet Amanda Gorman to create an inspirational mantra designed as a call to action for all women. Narrated and penned by Gorman and shot by Webby Award Honouree Renée Mao, the mantra highlights women of all sizes, backgrounds, races, and abilities and why they run while evoking a call to action to join the movement.

The campaign anthem launches with a social-first campaign leveraging Amanda Gorman’s social channels as well as a bespoke TikTok takeover on January 23. To amplify the announcement, Milk will be partnering with real women in a surround sound social campaign that focuses on why they run.

To help conceptualise Every Woman’s Marathon, one of the largest branded experiential activations in recent history, Milk and GALE enlisted an advisory board comprised of accomplished female runners of all types. This includes: the first female marathon finisher Kathrine Switzer, para-triathlon champion Danielle McLaughlin, Olympic runner Deena Kastor, activist Alison Desir and long-distance champion Des Linden.


In addition to female-focused training advice, nutrition plans and support from the advisory board, Team Milk is also helping runners make meaningful impact by matching registration costs in donations to one of five charity partners. 

This marathon also transcends the traditional race format, promising participants a full-scale activation in the picturesque city of Savannah. The two-day event will include enriching activities such as cooking and yoga classes, live performances, and insightful panels.

Running has such a special place in the hearts of women who make time to do it," said GALE creative director Karen Starc. “Milk recognises that sacrifice, so they are creating a unique marathon to support the hard work and extra effort women have to find time to train. We are thrilled to have Amanda Gorman, such a moving person, help share the narrative with us.”
