Metropolis Films has announced its representative in London Pablo Behrens has been awarded a Best Director nomination at the Madrid International Film Festival (MIFF 2018) this past weekend. Pablo's film is called Adrift in Soho.
Metropolis Films production and post-production services collaborated with Pablo in the Opening Credits Sequence of the film.
The opening sequence featured B&W 16mm Bolex camera rushes of Soho Square and environs are shot in a 1950s high grain hand-held style. The film was shot in London by Pablo and DOP Martin Kobylarz and post-produced by Tommy Rosenblatt in Montevideo.
The full list of Adrift in Soho nominations at the MIFF 2018 are as follows: Best Lead Actress (Caitlin Harris), Best Supporting Actress (Lauren Harris), Best Director (Pablo Behrens), Best Cinematography (Martin Kobylarz) and Best Editing in a Feature Film (Simon Willcox and Charlie Hawksworth from Loaded Dice Editors.
London's Framestore collaborated with Pablo in the visual effects of the film. The grading was done by Steffan Perry also from Framestore. Apart from the MIFF distinction ADRIFT IN SOHO also received 'Best Film' nomination at the Calcutta International Cult-Film Festival (CICFF 2018).
The film festival season is only just beginning so the company has announced that they hope Pablo will receive more nominations and awards in the future. The film is scheduled (TBC) for October this year in the UK.
As Executive Producer of Metropolis Films Pablo Behrens will be representing them at the Cannes Lions 2018 together with production services producer in Latin America, Enrique Gruber.
