Company marks IWD with a takeover of its website and social platforms

Merman and sister company Mermade are celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day with a takeover of its website and social platforms featuring work from their extended family of female creators.

Sharon Horgan, co-founder of Merman says: “As Sarah Silverman would say: ‘Yay. A whole day!’  I really can’t believe that days like today are even needed but they are because women still don’t have an equal foothold in industry. So until we do, Happy International Women’s Day! Please check out the work of these talented women.”

The curated collection of work features a showcase of short films, animation, illustrations, short stories, and comedic sketches from female talent at Merman and beyond.

“We reached out to our family of creative executives across Merman and Mermade and asked them to share content about the female experience from some of their favorite female creators. This IWD, we are so happy to share these stories with you,” says Kira Carstensen, global managing partner, Merman and Mermade.

Siobhan Murphy, managing partner, Merman commercials and branded says: “On this important day, we wanted to endorse the amazing female creativity from our directors we work with at Merman and creators we are collaborating with. We wish to support this year’s theme #breakthebias by showcasing an array of stories from women all over the world."

The showcase includes a diverse catalog of work featuring “Your Monster” a romantic-comedy-horror film about falling in love with your inner darkness, written and directed by Caroline Lindy; “The Bridesmaid” a comedic short story about a constipated bridesmaid directed by Rachel Stubbings;  and “Piu Piu” a psycho-surrealist thriller that explores one woman’s complicated relationship to routinized violence, written and directed by Naima Ramos-Chapman; as well as many others.

Amongst the films there is also an illustration by Annah Feinberg, stand up by comedian Beth Stelling, a podcast by Chloe Combi, and written short stories from the first installment of Mermade Stories, a quarterly online publication of original narrative works.

To view the collection and the people behind it, please visit hellomerman.com which will be exhibiting the work on their website all this week.
