Hurrell joins from MullenLowe London, where she was also Managing Director

mcgarrybowen London has bolstered its senior line up with the appointment of Charlie Hurrell as Managing Director.

Hurrell joins from MullenLowe London, where she was also Managing Director. She will work closely with and report into mcgarrybowen’s Chief Executive Jason Gonsalves to help develop the agency’s operational model and offering for clients as well as leading the day-to-day running of the agency. She will also work across all accounts and on new business.

Hurrell first joined MullenLowe in 2012 as Head of Account Management and was promoted to Managing Director at the end of 2015. During her time there she contributed to refocusing the agency on its creative output and the importance of stronger and more diverse talent and more collaborative behaviours. She led client accounts including Government business; The Electoral Commission and NHS Blood and Transplant, and The British Heart Foundation, which MullenLowe won from Grey.

Hurrell brings a wealth of hybrid experience having worked at glue Isobar for six years as a Business Director and Head of Account Management. She started in the industry as a Saatchi & Saatchi graduate before working at RKCR / Y&R and Fallon.

Gonsalves says: "We were looking for a unicorn: a creatively driven leader who gets data, media and technology, with the energy and charisma to help take us to the next level. Charlie is our unicorn, she's a one-off and I'm delighted she's joining Mcgarrybowen."

Hurrell adds: “I believe the Dentsu Aegis Network and MGB as a catalyst within it, has the leadership and infrastructure to genuinely do something different by leaning into the areas that seem to make other agencies squeamish. There are super talented people there and from brilliant people come brilliant ideas, in all forms. It feels like all my experience so far can now really be brought to bear.”
