McDonald’s Presents the 'Palindrome' 22022022 Burger

Tuesday, February 22 may seem like an ordinary Tuesday, but nothing could be further from the truth, as it is “Palindrome Day”, the day on which the date looks exactly the same from left to right and right to left: 22-02-2022 (European date format). Also known as Twosday, such a special day naturally calls for a special burger. That is why McDonald's Netherlands introduced the unique “22022022 Burger”, conceptualized by Dutch Creative Agency TBWA\NEBOKO.

No matter how you eat it, front to back or back to front, from the bottom to the top or vice-versa, the 22022022 Burger is constructed to be enjoyed in exactly the same way!

What makes the 22022022 Burger even more special is that only 22 of them were made and available to people with a palindrome name in the Netherlands and enjoyed in the Dutch’s own palindrome town of Ede. 

The 22 people who were contacted in advance via Instagram had names like Pip, Reinier, Nayan, Suus, Anna, Kik and Izzi and others were invited to the McDonald's restaurant Ede Centrum. One of the guests is already well-known, Eke Bosman, better known on Instagram as @Snackspert. He received the very first 22022020 Burger at exactly 11:11!

“Palindrome Day is a unique moment that you cannot let pass you by,” says Patritia Pahladsingh, Managing Director at TBWA\NEBOKO. “The next date will not be for another 8 years, on March 2nd 2030. All the more reason for us to recognise this date, together with McDonald's and its Franchisees, and generate extra Good Times."

Mike Willemsz, Brand Manager at McDonald’s Netherlands adds, “It's great to celebrate Twosday in such a unique way with an equally unique burger for 22 true McDonald's fans. In addition, to let everyone in the Netherlands celebrate the Palindrome concept, we provided a great Deal in the Dutch McDonald's App. Today only, a Big Mac goes for the palindrome price of 2.22 euros. Happy Palindrome Day!”
