McCann London Lures TBWA’s Tom Wong

Takes newly created role of Managing Partner in charge of New Business Development

McCann London Lures TBWA’s Tom Wong

Tom Wong has left TBWA after four and half years to join McCann London as Managing Partner in charge of New Business Development. The move sees Tom reunited with his former TBWA colleague, and now Chief Executive of McCann London, Zaid Al-Zaidy.

As part of Wong’s newly created senior role, he has the dual challenge of seeking out new revenue streams from prospective and existing clients, whilst serving as the agency’s Brand Director; with a brief to lead the marketing and external communications strategy for McCann London.

Tom joins amidst a flurry of new business wins that sees McCann bring in a strong new blend of sector-leading clients that include First Great Western Railways, Homepride, Microsoft and The Qatar Financial Centre Authority.

Welcoming Tom, Al-Zaidy commented:  “This is another great addition to our new team at McCann London. Tom is a rare breed, a great agency marketer, new business practitioner, client leader and general energizer. I can’t wait to work with him again.”

Previously Tom was Development Director at TBWA. Having joined in 2010, he was instrumental in winning and running some of their premier global and domestic accounts; including Four Seasons, The Labour Party, Lidl, and most recently Airbnb.

Tom has spent ten years at some of the industry’s most established agencies, beginning his career as Marketing Manager at Meteorite (now part of McCann Worldgroup), where he served under the tutelage of Debbie Smith and Hugh Bishop.  He took the same role at LIDA, reporting into Lisa Thomas, now CEO of the M&C Saatchi Group, and spent a further two and half years working to bring in some of the agency’s keynote integrated clients including MINI, Transport for London, Boots and Carphone Warehouse.

Speaking about his new role, Tom said: “The talent, quality of work, creative thinking and diligence to deliver is clear from the moment you set foot in McCann; it is a culture I firmly believe in, and look forward to being part of.”
